HC Deb 23 October 1984 vol 65 c566W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will estimate the saving which will accrue to the National Health Service by replacing 675 hearing-aid batteries by double life CP101 batteries.

Mr. Newton

Zinc-air batteries of type CP101 are not suitable for all types of hearing aid but it is estimated that they can meet almost two-thirds of the Department's requirements. On this basis the annual savings from their use will be about £240,000 at current prices.
