HC Deb 27 November 1984 vol 68 c449W
Dr. Michael Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement with regard to possible British participation in an expanded United Nations force in southern Lebanon; and whether he will specify what type of assistance Britain could provide, at what level and for how long and under what conditions.

Mr. Luce

We have long supported the expansion of UNIFIL to monitor the early and complete withdrawal, on a basis agreed by negotiation, of the Israeli forces in occupation of south Lebanon and to contribute to the restoration of the Lebanon Government's authority there. We would be willing to consider a request from the United Nations for further logistic support of the type we already provide to UNIFIL.
