HC Deb 27 November 1984 vol 68 c455W
Mr. Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what provision of dental care he recommends for inmates of long-stay geriatric mental and mentally handicapped hospitals.

Mr. John MacKay

The dental care of such patients is usually undertaken by salaried dental staff employed by Health Boards, though general dental practitioners are sometimes given part-time appointments to carry out this work. It is for health boards to determine the level of dental care that is provided under these arrangements.
