§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what arrangements will be made in the event of the abolition of the Greater London council for the future payment of compensation awards at present paid by the council on behalf of his Department to former Inner London education authority teachers.
§ Mr. Dunn[pursuant to his reply, 23 November 1984, c. 341]: The Local Government Bill contains provisions to enable the liabilities of the GLC in its capacity as the local education authority for the inner London area to be transferred to the new ILEA on the abolition of the council. This applies to the payment of compensation. All existing rights to pension and compensation payments will be fully safeguarded.
