HC Deb 26 November 1984 vol 68 c390W
59. Mr. Litherland

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has for the continuance after 1986 of the programme for deriving high-grade oil from waste materials run by the Greater Manchester county council in the event of the abolition of that council.

Mr. Waldegrave

I cannot yet predict the future after 1986 for this programme which is run by the Greater Manchester council. Further development will depend on financial support and on the voluntary cooperative arrangements proposed for waste disposal by the district councils in the light of their consideration of the Government's consultation document "Streamlining the Cities: Waste Disposal".
