§ Mr. FletcherFrom May 1979 to October 1984 inclusive, the number of bankruptcies (including deeds of arrangement) was 32,735 and the number of company liquidations (compulsory plus creditors' voluntary) 58,010. Bankruptcies are stated before deduction of consolidations and rescissions in England and Wales; these figures are not available for parts of years but in the 5 years 1979–83 totalled 1,691.
