§ Mr. Bulmerasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many members of his Department of the rank of assistant secretary or above have held a job in industry or commerce for at least a year; of these, how many have held a profit-accountable job in industry; and what proportions these represent in each case.
§ Mr. Butcher[pursuant to the reply, 22 November 1984, c. 222–23]: Forty-six, or about one in four, of the officers of assistant secretary rank or above have held a job in industry or commerce for at least a year.
My Department has no means of identifying "profit-accountable" jobs.
