HC Deb 22 November 1984 vol 68 c238W
Mr. Gale

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he expects to give details of his proposals concerning supplementary benefit payments for board and lodging.

Mr. Newton

We are today laying before the House the Supplementary Benefit (Requirements) Amendment and Temporary Provisions Regulations 1984, which will enable us to control local limits governing board and lodging payments. My right hon. Friend shall shortly be publishing proposals for longer-term arrangements and for consultation with the Social Security Advisory Committee.

Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why he has not given a substantive answer to the question put down by the hon. Member for Oldham, West for priority written answer on 12 November regarding the uprating of the £15 deemed strike pay for strikers' families claiming supplementary benefit.

Mr. Newton

I replied to the hon. Member yesterday.
