§ Mr. Giles ShawOn 12 November, at column 70, my right hon. and learned Friend announced in reply to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Wealden (Sir G. Johnson Smith) the appointment of the deputy chairman and three other members of the authority to serve alongside the chairman, whose appointment was announced in August. He has now signed a commencement order under the Cable and Broadcasting Act 1984, by means of which the Cable Authority will come into existence as a statutory corporation on 1 December and assume its licensing powers on 1 January.
