Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many cattle in each of the following categories have been exported from Northern Ireland and to where in each month to the latest available date since 1 January 1983: (a) bulls, (b) cows for slaughter, (c) milk cows, (d) maiden heifers, (e) in-calf heifers, (f) fat steers, (g) fat heifers and (h) dropped calves; and in each category how many were of recognised milk breeds.

Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many salmon grilse were taken in the Foyle fisheries area in each of the last five years and the current year by (a) anglers, (b) draft nets, (c) drift netting and (d) fixed nets; and what were the sums received by way of licences in each of those years from (i) anglers and (ii) netsmen.

The final returns for the 1984 season are not yet available but the information for the previous five years is as follows:

month since 1 January 1983 are as follows: all exports were destined for the Republic of Ireland. Also given are numbers of the various categories of cattle shipped from Northern Ireland to Great Britain in each month over the same time period. Data for milk cows, maiden heifers and dropped calves are not separately available from export and shipping statistics while numbers of in-calf heifers are available only from shipping statistics. Further, "recognised milk breeds" are not separately identified in the collected statistics.
