asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total paid in (a) domestic and (b) non-domestic rates in Wales, showing domestic rates net of rebate in each year from 1981–82 to 1984–85.

^*Excluding domestic rate relief and rate rebates. In 1981–82 and 1982–83 that part of rate rebates paid as part of supplementary benefit is not separately identifiable, and so has not been excluded. Domestic relief was reduced from 36p to 18½p in 1982–83.
