HC Deb 14 November 1984 vol 67 c260W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects the case of R v Mr. Gillow to be heard at the European Court of Justice; what he estimates will be the costs of the case; and whether he has asked the Government of Guernsey to pay the costs of the case.

Mr. Giles Shaw

A case has been brought before the European Commission of Human Rights by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gillow, but it is not clear at this stage whether or not the case will be referred to the European Court of Human Rights at Strasbourg. Guernsey is aware of the cost implications for it; but estimates are not yet possible.
