asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will increase the level of active training available to the Regular Army Reserve.

Mr. Stanley

We already have plans to increase the level of active training available to the Regular Army Reserve. As we announced in SDE 83, we are introducing a scheme which will offer a week of refresher training to Regular Army reservists in their third year out of the Army, and this will begin next year. In addition, Regular Army reservists will continue to have the opportunity to participate in field exercises, including in 1985 the home defence exercise Brave Defender.
