§ Mr. Wallerasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if it is his policy that the proposed amended regulations relating to the labelling of hens' eggs should require the declaration of methods of production.
§ Mr. MacGregorCouncil Regulation (EEC) No. 1831/84 of 19 June 1984 provides for the optional declaration of method of production on retail packs. But such declarations may only make use of terms that have yet to be set out in a Commission regulation. My Department, in close consultation with the interests concerned, is seeking to play a constructive role in the discussions on the Commission regulation.
