HC Deb 09 November 1984 vol 67 c41W
Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement about the hijacking of a service bus and car at RAF Greenham common and the driving of these vehicles into the base during the weekend of 2–3 November.

Mr. Stanley

On 1 November three out of six women who had been detected as trespassers attempted to drive away a USAF vehicle. They were prevented from doing so and were later removed from the base. On 4 November a group of women who had trespassed on to the base took a bus, which had been parked temporarily outside its secure compound, and drove to the cruise missile facility. They were seen, followed and detained by United Kingdom security personnel. Three have been charged with criminal damage and 18 with offences connected with the taking of the bus.
