§ Mr. Georgeasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he is satisfied that each of the services is operating within the expenditure guidelines laid down for the current financial year.
§ Mr. StanleyThe defence cash limit is set for our expenditure as a whole and is not calculated separately for each service. Equally, our management of cash expenditure is conducted against Votes, and not by service. Defence expenditure for 1984–85 is expected to be contained within the cash limit.
