§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the specific terms of reference of the visit of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, the hon. Member for Oxford West and Abingdon (Mr. Patten) to Bolton on 5 June; whom he will be seeing; and if he will pay special regard to (a) additional allocations of money to deal with the environmental problems affecting health outlined in the Black report and (b) the commencement dates for the first phase of Bolton hospital.
§ Mr. John PattenMinisters visit health authorities in order to see the health service in operation and to hear at first hand of local needs and achievements. Those I hope to meet in Bolton on 5 June include the hon. Member for Bolton, South-East (Mr. Young) and my hon. Friends the Members for Bolton, North-East (Mr. Thurnham) and for Bolton, West (Mr. Sackville) and representatives of the district health authority and the community health council. It is for the regional health authority to decide, in the light of competing priorities, what resources to allocate to Bolton and when to begin the first phase of the redevelopment of Bolton general hospital.
