HC Deb 24 May 1984 vol 60 c481W
Mr. Dover

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many compulsory redundancies there have been in the National Coal Board during the last 10 years.

Mr. Giles Shaw

There have been none in recent years. It has been the board's policy to offer alternative jobs and to avoid any miner who wishes to stay in the industry being made redundant. This continues to be its policy.
