HL Deb 24 May 1984 vol 452 c395WA
Lord Mottistone

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress the Financial Management Unit is making in disseminating information to government departments about good practice in implementing the Government's Financial Management Initiative.

The Minister of State, Privy Council Office, and Minister for the Arts (The Earl of Gowrie)

The Financial Management Unit, which is sponsored by the Treasury and the Cabinet Office (Management and Personnel Office), continues to help departments implement their plans for improving financial management, and to disseminate lessons and information of common interest. It has recently produced two reports bringing together knowledge and experience of the implementation of departments' plans in two important areas of the Financial Management Initiative—the development of top management information and review systems, and of systems of budgetary control by line managers. I have placed copies of these reports in the Library of the House. Copies will also be available to the public from the library of the Cabinet Office (MPO) on payment of a charge to cover the costs of production.
