HC Deb 21 May 1984 vol 60 c368W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why he intends to publish a resumé of the Scottish evidence to the Black inquiry on Sellafield instead of the full report.

Mr. John MacKay

The NHS staff who prepared this information have submitted a resumé of it for publication in a medical journal to provide a summary of the salient findings so that these can be assessed by the scientific community. As already intimated, it is my right hon. Friend's intention to make the Scottish evidence available to the public in due course.

Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland from what sources the Scottish Home and Health Department gathered information for submitting evidence to the Black inquiry on Sellafield.

Mr. John MacKay

This information was obtained from the Scottish cancer registration scheme.

Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what restrictions he has imposed on (a) contributing doctors and (b) officials in his Department concerning communications with third parties on the information and statistics relating to his Department's submission to the Black inquiry.

Mr. John MacKay

None, additional to the normal rules which apply to civil servants.
