§ Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set out the general rules governing the effects on local offices of his Department's practice of an 364W unreported decision by a social security commissioner where that decision has clear relevance to the case in question;
(2) whether an unreported decision by a social security commissioner can be used at an appeal tribunal by an officer representing his Department; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NewtonGuidance to adjudication officers on the use of unreported decisions at appeal tribunals is given in the practice direction of the chief social security commissioner dated 28 October 1982. The Direction may be found at pages ix and x of the 1980–82 bound volume of commissioners' decisions, a copy of which is in the Library. The attention of all adjudication officers has been drawn to the practice direction.
