asked the Prime Minister if Her Majesty's Government will increase the number of places on enterprise allowance schemes in the Stockport and Tameside area.

My hon. Friend the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment's announcement on 1 May, at column 65, means that places in the north-west region will increase by about a third over the next three months and the Stockport and Tameside area will have its fair share.

We are looking urgently at the future of the scheme in the medium term and an announcement will be made later this year.
