HC Deb 15 May 1984 vol 60 cc91-2W
Mr. David Atkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the total number of people in the United Kingdom who have (a) died from and (b) suffered from contamination following accidents in the nuclear energy processing industry for each year from its inception.

Mr. Giles Shaw

There have been no fatalities as a result of exposure to radiation arising out of accidents in the nuclear energy processing industry since its inception. The number of persons at BNFL who have suffered from contamination in excess of the prescribed limits is being carefully checked and I will let my hon. Friend have this information as soon as possible.
