HC Deb 14 May 1984 vol 60 c25W
Dr. Godman

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he next plans to raise the case of Raoul Wallenberg with the Soviet authorities.

Mr. Rifkind

We have raised this case with the Soviet authorities on a number of occasions. Most recently I raised Mr. Wallenberg's case among others with the Soviet First Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Kornienko during his visit to London on 27–30 March.

Mr. Kornienko refused to discuss the matter. He stated that Mr. Wallenberg was dead, and the Soviet authorities had nothing more to say on the subject.
