§ Sir Keith JosephThe Department's equal opportunities officer is a senior executive officer who was appointed by the principal establishment officer on 30 March 1984. His duties include responsibility for the full scope of equal opportunity matters relating to race and sex discrimination. He is responsible for co-ordinating the Civil Service policy of non-discrimination within the Department and acts as the inter-departmental liaison officer with the Cabinet Office (MPO). He is the focal point within the Department for monitoring its equal opportunities policies and provides information and advice to management, individual members of staff and the departmental trade union side.
