HC Deb 09 May 1984 vol 59 c394W
Mr. Lawrence

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether any countries other than Libya have national delegations which the United Kingdom recognises for diplomatic purposes but whose principal members are not properly accredited diplomats.

Mr. Whitney

No. The diplomatic missions of other countries represented in London are designated as high commissions or embassies as appropriate. The only members of staff enjoying diplomatic status are those notified to us in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna convention. This was also the case with the former Libyan people's bureau.
