asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to establish the new Cable Television Authority.

My right hon. and learned Friend hopes to do so soon after the Cable and Broadcasting Bill has received Royal Assent.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to announce the appointment to the chairmanship of the Cable Television Authority.

My right hon. and learned Friend hopes to be able to do so in the near future.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will take steps to accelerate the establishment of the interim non-statutory Cable Television Authority prior to the final stages of the Cable and Broadcasting Bill [Lords].

My right hon. and learned Friend hopes to establish the authority on a shadow basis soon after a chairman designate has been appointed.
