HC Deb 30 March 1984 vol 57 cc336-7W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many children the present Lagan college premises can accommodate.

Mr. Scott

No assessment of capacity has been made, but there are at present 164 pupils enrolled in the school.

Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many pupils Lagan college estimates it will have in (a) one year, (b) two years and (c) three years time.

Mr. Scott

Lagan college estimates that it will have an enrolment of about 270 pupils in September 1984, about 370 pupils in September 1985 and about 470 pupils in September 1986.

Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) how much the Department of Education in Northern Ireland will be giving to Lagan college in grant aid during the year 1984–85;

(2) what application has been made by Lagan college for a capital grant to extend the present premises in which the school is located.

Mr. Scott

It is not possible to state what grant-aid will be paid. There have been discussions between the governors of Lagan college and the Department of Education for Northern Ireland about additional accommodation, but a formal application for capital grant has not yet been received.
