Dr. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish the percentage of aggregate Exchequer grant made by (a) specific grants, (b) supplementary grants, (c) domestic rate relief grant and (d) block grant needs and resources element at (i) budget and (ii) outturn in each year since 1978–79.

The available information which is based on local authority budget and outturn returns as reported to my Department is as attached.

The information is not available in the form requested. However, from information provided by local authorities in their annual HIP returns on their new tenants, given in my reply to the hon. Member on 14 March at column164, and on numbers of dwellings coming into management, estimates can be derived of the new tenants accommodated as a result of existing tenancies ending. Attached are the figures:
