HC Deb 27 March 1984 vol 57 c128W
Mr. Fisher

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many people are currently homeless.

Sir George Young

No figures are available for the number of people who are homeless at any one time. There are figures for households and they relate to households who become homeless or are threatened with homelessness over a period, for whom local authorities have accepted responsibility for securing accommodation. Figures for England are published half yearly. Copies of tables containing these figures are in the House of Commons Library.
