HC Deb 26 March 1984 vol 57 c22W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of current immigration appeals adjudicators (a) have legal experience and (b) are from the ethnic minorities; and what proportion from the ethnic minorities are women.

Mr. Waddington

The 15 full-time adjudicators at present in post are all men. Forty-two of the part-time adjudicators are men and 11 are women. Ten of the full-time adjudicators and the majority of the part-time adjudicators hold legal qualifications. One of the full-time adjudicators is from the ethnic minorities, as are at least five of the part-time adjudicators including one woman.
