Mr. John David Taylorasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will estimate the consequences for the European Economic Community of raising the own resources value added tax ceiling to 2 per cent.
§ Mr. LawsonThe own resources ceiling has not been raised. Raising it to 2 per cent. in 1984 would imply, other things being equal, a doubling of the ceiling from an estimated £8.45 billion to some £16.9 billion.
