§ Mr. Kirkwoodasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps have been taken to persuade the United States Government to desist from the further deployment of United States chemical weapons in Europe.
§ Mr. RifkindI refer the hon. Member to the answer my hon. Friend the Member for Shoreham (Mr. Luce) gave to the hon. Member for Stockton, North (Mr. Cook) on 19 March, at column 343. Since the United States Congress has not approved funds for the modernisation of the United States chemical weapon deterrent capability, the question of further deployment of United States chemical weapons in Europe does not arise.
