HC Deb 23 March 1984 vol 56 c608W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the latest position on National Health Service pay negotiations in all sectors for 1983–84.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Pay negotiations for NHS staff groups not covered by the pay review bodies are conducted in the various Whitley councils. I understand that claims have been submitted in respect of some but not yet all such staff groups. I also understand that at a meeting on 14 March the staff side of the Administrative and Clerical Staffs Council rejected an offer worth 3 per cent. overall.

Review bodies are considering the pay of doctors and dentists, nurses and midwives and the professions allied to medicine.
