HC Deb 23 March 1984 vol 56 c595W
Mr. Soames

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what aid has been sought from the European Economic Community to help the development of the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Raison

A total of 478,000 ecu—some £284,000—has been allocated to the Falkland Islands from the fourth and fifth European development funds. In addition, 300,000 ecu—some £178,000—of emergency aid was provided for rehabilitation following the hostilities in 1982. The European Investment Bank has also provided 200,000 ecu—some £119,000—for a salmon-ranching study. No further aid is currently being sought.
