There are currently some 500 service and MOD civilian personnel stationed at Ascension Island.

asked the Secretary of State for Defend what is the annual cost of maintaining his Department's facilities on Ascension Island.

Mr. Stanley

The estimated maintenance costs of my Department's buildings and facilities on Ascension Island are about £500,000 per annum. This excludes any exceptional works that may be necessary to repair the recent storm damage.
