HC Deb 22 March 1984 vol 56 c536W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to receive the report of the chief constable of British Transport police into the incident referred to in his reply of 16 March, Official Report, column 302, to the hon. Member for Holborn and St. Pancras; and whether the report will be made public.

Mr. David Mitchell

A formal complaint has now been made under the police complaints procedure. The report of the investigating officer—which I understand is being expedited — will go to the deputy chief constable of the British Transport police. He will inform the Police Complaints Board whether he proposes to take disciplinary action. In accordance with the complaints procedure, the report will not be made public nor will it be sent to my hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Transport.

The British Railways Board will, however, let us know the outcome.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what communications he has had with the British Transport police about their treatment of vagrants or people who are drunk in addition to the case referred to in his reply of 16 March, Official Report, column 302.

Mr. David Mitchell

None.
