HC Deb 20 March 1984 vol 56 c421W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that all slow-release formulations of potassium chloride, used as drugs for those with coronary problems, are safe.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The possible adverse effects of slow-release potassium chloride formulations are well known and described in the current product data sheets. I remain satisfied on the evidence and advice at the moment available to me that the benefits outweigh the risks when these products are used in approved indications.
