Who is responsible in Scotland for water supply, pollution detection and control, arterial drainage works, urban flood alleviation works, sewerage and water resources, and whether they will list those statutes that have a bearing on such matters.

The information requested is set out in the following table, which lists the principal statutes. Many other statutes, however, have some relevance to these provisions, and details can be obtained from theIndex to the Statutes, a copy of which is held in the Library. Further information can be found in Water in Scotland—A Review (HMSO, 1980) and in The Water Industry, Volume II—Evidence (pp 419–423) of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology, Session 1982–83 1st Report (HMSO).
