asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will introduce legislation providing that there is a minimum strength for Scotch whisky marketed in Scotland of 40 per cent.

Along with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food I am considering the making of regulations which would include a minimum strength. We shall shortly be announcing our decision.
