§ Mr. McCrindle
asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when the recommendations of the working party on sewage disposal relating to discharges of crude sewage are likely to be implemented.
§ Mr. Waldegrave
Full implementation of the recommendations of the working party on sewage disposal relating to discharges of crude sewage would be very expensive. The installation of a satisfactory out-fall can produce a substantial improvement in water quality but the cost can be of the order of rnillions of pounds for a single scheme.27W
My hon. Friend will be aware of the Royal Commission on environmental pollution's tenth report and, in particular, the recommendation contained in paragraph 4.68. This, is being studied.
