Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the number and value of the salmon and grilse caught in each of (a) the Foyle area, (b) the Bann fishery and (c) the rest of Northern Ireland in each of the last three years by the commercial fishermen in those areas.

Catch returns from licensed commercial fishermen are made to the Department of Agriculture on a confidential basis and accordingly figures in respect of the Bann fishery, where only one commercial fishing company is involved, cannot be revealed. The information in respect of the Foyle area and the remainder of Northern Ireland (which includes the Bann fishery catch) is as follows:
