HC Deb 12 March 1984 vol 56 c37W
28. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what planning assumptions he makes for coal production in 1984 about the coal burn in power stations; and, of this, what is the estimated coal burn in Scotland by the South of Scotland Electricity Board.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The level of coal production in any year, and the assumptions which are made in planning this, are matters for the National Coal Board.

I understand that the latest available estimates by the generating boards of power station coal burn in the year beginning 1 November 1983 are as follows:

million tonnes
Central Electricity Generating Board 77
South of Scotland Electricity Board 5.5
