HC Deb 12 March 1984 vol 56 cc37-8W
29. Mr. Barron

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what report he has received from the Central Electricity Generating Board as to why the Isle of Grain power station project is not to be completed.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The board has explained that changed circumstances since Grain oil-fired power station was planned in the late 1960s mean that the fifth unit at the station would be an uneconomic addition to the generating system. The board therefore concluded that further expenditure to complete the last unit, in addition to the four already built, was not justified.
