Mr. Waller

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish in the Official Report a table showing gross domestic fixed capital formation in new building and works at 1980 prices, broken down by industry and into public and private sectors, for the years 1970, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1982 and estimates for 1983.

The table following gives the required estimates of gross domestic fixed capital formation (GDFCF) on new dwellings and on other new buildings and works by sector. The latter estimates are also analysed by industry. A simultaneous sector by industry analysis is not readily available.

A breakdown by programme of gross domestic fixed capital formation, as shown in table 1.9 of the public expenditure White Paper (Cmnd. 9143), is given in the following table. Economic analyses of programme expenditure beyond 1984–85 are not available.
