HC Deb 09 March 1984 vol 55 c748W
Mr. Michael Spicer

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will have direct consultations with the chairman of the Worcester community health council before he takes his decision about the future of St. Wulstan's hospital, Malvern;

(2) whether he will ensure that his representatives will make their own assessment of the comparable facilities in the west midlands region before he makes his decision about the future of St. Wulstan's hospital, Malvern;

(3) whether he or his personal representatives will visit St. Wulstan's hospital, Malvern before he takes his decision about the future of this hospital.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The House has already been assured that when we consider the proposals on the future of St. Wulstans hospital, we will take into account all relevant factors before reaching a decision. We must be allowed to make our own assessment of every aspect of the proposals submitted and we cannot commit ourselves in advance to any specific procedure. However, I would be happy to discuss these particular suggestions with my hon. Friend.
