§ Mr. Terry Fieldsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether the terms of reference of the official observers to the forthcoming elections in El Salvador will include (a) the question of violation of human rights in El Salvador, (b) an inquiry into the availability in those elections of polling stations which were closed in the 1982 elections and (c) opposition parties; and which embassy will play host to Her Majesty's Government's observers during their stay in El Salvador.
§ Mr. WhitneyThe official observers will be free to take into account all aspects of conditions in El Salvador which they consider relevant to the conduct of the elections. Administrative and other appropriate assistance is being made available by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and by the British ambassador to Honduras who is also accredited to El Salvador.
