HC Deb 07 March 1984 vol 55 c605W
46. Mr. Alton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has received the proposals of the Council for the Protection of Rural England, dated 24 January 1984, on the future of the Halvergate marshes; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

Yes. I replied to the director on 20 February informing him that we had authorised the Countryside Commission to offer an enhancement rate of grant towards the cost of certain management agreements contemplated by the Broads authority.

66. Mr. Rowe

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many landowners and farmers in the Halvergate marshes have notified the Broads authority of their intention to plough areas of marshland.

Mr. Waldegrave

The Broads authority informs me that four farmers and landowners within the Seven Mile/ Berney/Halvergate triangle have notified their intention to plough.
