§ Mr. Proctorasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement about progress towards the implementation of sections 35, 36 and 38 of the Mental Health Act 1983.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe have today issued a consultation paper to health authorities about the implementation of these sections, which deal with remands to hospital and interim hospital orders. My right hon. and learned Friend the Home Secretary and I are proposing an implementation date for these provisions of 1 October this year.
