Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Wales whether he will publish in the Official Report a table showing for each industry listed in table 65 of "Welsh Economic Trends No. 8" of 1982–83 the number of manufacturing units and employment at the latest available date in actual figures and as a percentage of the 1979 figure.

Information is not available in the form requested as a result of changes in definitions used in the standard industrial classification. However, data relating to the position in 1981, the latest year for which information is available, under the new definitions are given in the following table:
